Registered Nurse - PACU

Job Description

The University of Vermont Health Network is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team in the Pre/Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). As an essential member of our perioperative services team, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive care to patients before, during, and after surgical or invasive procedures.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and deliver nursing care using the nursing process.
• Coordinate perioperative care to ensure a seamless patient experience.
• Prepare patients for procedures, assist physicians during procedures, and evaluate post-procedure outcomes.
• Manage pain effectively, educate patients and families, and prevent complications.
• Become proficient in two areas of perioperative services: Operating Room Circulating Nurse, Pre/Post Nurse, or Endoscopy Nurse.

Requirements

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
• Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.
• Minimum two years of medical/surgical nursing experience; critical care experience preferred.
• ACLS certification required; PALS certification within 12 months.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
• Prior experience in perioperative services is a plus.
